HAPPY INTERNATIONAL BEAVER DAY!!!

Happy #internationalbeaverday 🦫🥳!

From all of us:

Alexis, Eric, Bo, Arrow, Gretchen, and our newest beaver (who doesn't have a name , but is recovering from surgery today).

Beavers do more than build dams… they support life!

Their ponds create wetlands that clean water, prevent droughts, and give homes to frogs, fish, turtles, birds, and other mammals.

They can turn dry, damaged land into thriving ecosystems, just by doing what comes naturally to them.

We’ve seen firsthand how beavers bring not just healing to landscapes, but hope to hearts, and can teach us valuable lessons.

They are the second largest rodent in the world, and have incredible aquatic adaptations (like flipper feet, a second set of lips and eyelids to protect them underwater, and the ability to hold their breath for up to 15 minutes!).

Beavers are one of the only mammals, besides humans, that intentionally engineer their environment.

But unlike us, they leave it healthier than they found it.

Thank you for celebrating these wild-hearted engineers with us today.

We’re lucky to know them… and even luckier to learn from them.
